BHUBANESWAR: In light of a troubling increase in crime throughout the state, Bhakta Charan Das, president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), called on Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to implement urgent measures to uphold the rule of law.

Speaking to reporters, Das claimed that law and order in Odisha has completely deteriorated, citing three significant incidents, including a lynching, that occurred within a week.

“Despite a barbaric incident reminiscent of medieval times happening in plain sight, the ruling party leaders are absolving the police instead of taking decisive action. The Congress will stage a protest at the office of the Commissionerate Police on Monday to condemn the killing,” Das stated.

The OPCC president remarked that a tribal chief minister like Majhi had the chance to enhance his popularity by rigorously enforcing the rule of law, but he appears more focused on utilizing the police for political purposes.
