Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has formally replied to Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik regarding the protracted boundary dispute concerning the Kotia Group of Villages located in the Koraput district.
In a letter dated October 27, 2026 (D.O. No. 762/CM/2026), CM Majhi confirmed he had received Patnaik’s earlier communication from October 19, 2026.
The Chief Minister asserted that the Kotia Group of Villages has been an essential part of Odisha since the state’s establishment in 1936, emphasizing the government’s dedication to protecting its territorial integrity and rightful interests.
In response to the Opposition’s viewpoint, CM Majhi noted that Patnaik’s letter seemed to approach the delicate issue from a “political perspective,” rather than promoting constructive and legally viable solutions.
He highlighted that the state administration has consistently defended its territorial claims through lawful and constitutional channels.
Furthermore, CM Majhi pointed out that a high-level committee has been formed, led by the Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management, with senior officials tasked with overseeing the comprehensive development of the Kotia Gram Panchayat areas.
Regular visits by ministers and senior officials to the region aim to ensure overall development, efficient public service delivery, and inclusive growth.
Recognizing the sensitive nature of the issue, CM Majhi urged all involved parties to remain calm and invited Patnaik to propose constructive ideas for settling the longstanding dispute through the appropriate legal and constitutional avenues.
