Odisha Athletes Achieve 17 Medals at Khelo India Tribal Games, CM Majhi Praises Their Efforts

Odisha athletes showcased an impressive performance at the inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games held in Chhattisgarh, securing a total of 17 medals in swimming and weightlifting.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi congratulated the athletes for their dedication and hard work, expressing pride in their accomplishments. The athletes achieved 11 medals in swimming, which included 4 gold and 7 bronze, while weightlifters contributed 6 medals, comprising 2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze.

CM Majhi emphasized the athletes’ determination and wished them ongoing success, noting that their achievements reflect Odisha’s growing prowess in sports and serve as an inspiration for future talents.

The first edition of the Khelo India Tribal Games commenced in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya described the event as a significant milestone, providing tribal athletes with a national platform to showcase and develop their skills.

Approximately 3,800 participants from 30 states are competing across nine disciplines during the 10-day event. Odisha’s strong performance at the games underscores the state’s commitment to sports development and highlights the potential of its athletes to excel on national stages.
