Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, the Odisha Legislative Assembly was marked by chaotic scenes as members of the Opposition disrupted proceedings in response to the MMDR Amendment Act.

As the session commenced, MLAs from both the BJD and Congress created a tumult during the Question Hour. Congress members staged a distinctive protest by donning posters around their necks that called for the repeal of the MMDR Act, simultaneously shouting slogans near the Gandhi statue situated within the Assembly grounds. In solidarity with the Congress protest, BJD MLAs moved to the well of the House, vocally opposing the BJP government and demanding the Act’s rollback.

The ongoing uproar around the Speaker’s podium, fueled by the Opposition’s chants, made it unfeasible to maintain order in the Assembly. Consequently, Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi announced the adjournment of the proceedings until 4 PM.
