NHRC Issues Notices Over Human Rights Violations in Maharashtra, Odisha, and Haryana

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken a firm stance regarding recent human rights violations in Maharashtra, Odisha, and Haryana. The commission has sent formal notices to local authorities, requiring comprehensive reports within two weeks.

In Nanded, Maharashtra, four children tragically drowned in a deep pit near a drainage construction site. The NHRC is seeking information on health and compensation measures for the affected families. In Odisha, a concerning food poisoning incident at Kakabandh Ashram School led to one child’s death and left many others hospitalized, prompting the NHRC to request detailed investigative reports from local authorities.

In Haryana’s Nuh district, two sanitation workers lost their lives due to exposure to hazardous gases, while another worker was hospitalized. The NHRC’s notices to the municipal commissioner and police superintendent demand an immediate and thorough investigation. These incidents highlight the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and accountability to safeguard human lives.
