The Intra Group ‘F’ Hockey Tournament 2026-27 commenced at Sainik School Korukonda on Monday, uniting cadets from four prestigious institutions for a three-day showcase of skill, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Organized by the Sainik Schools Society, the tournament includes teams from Sainik School Korukonda (Andhra Pradesh), Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh), Bhubaneswar (Odisha), and Sambalpur (Odisha). Cadets will compete in three main categories: Hockey Sub Junior Boys (U-15), Hockey Junior Girls (U-17), and Hockey Junior Boys (U-17).
The opening ceremony featured Group Captain SS Shastri, Principal of Sainik School Korukonda, as the chief guest. The event began with an impressive march past, where the chief guest took the salute. Captains of all participating teams took an oath of sportsmanship and camaraderie, embodying the spirit of the tournament.
In his inspiring address, Group Captain SS Shastri emphasized the event’s dual purpose: to foster camaraderie among cadets and to select Group ‘F’s top team for the upcoming Inter-Group National Hockey Championship. “The aim of this tournament goes beyond the scoreboard. It instills a lifelong spirit of sportsmanship and builds enduring bonds between cadets from different states, indicating the true essence of the Sainik School spirit,” he stated.
The event was attended by vice principal Wing Commander Kiran V, administrative officer Squadron Leader Athul John Thomas, staff members, teachers, officials, and cadets. Matches will continue for two days, with champions to be honored at the closing ceremony on April 15.
