The recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 was both moving and inspirational. The show’s host, Amitabh Bachchan, welcomed Rishabh, a talented young contestant from Rourkela, Odisha, to the hot seat.
During their conversation, Bachchan asked Rishabh about his artistic interests. Rishabh expressed his passion for music, attributing much of his inspiration to his father. He shared, “I am a singer, but I also write and compose songs. My interest in music started in childhood, influenced by my father, who is also a singer and a composer at Prasar Bharati. Observing him heightened my passion for singing. When my father realized my dedication to music, he encouraged me to pursue it as a career.”
Rishabh’s father recounted the challenges his son faced with speech during his early years. However, with appropriate medical support and attention, Rishabh was able to overcome these hurdles and has since developed impressive vocal clarity and skill.
Bachchan shared a personal anecdote to illustrate the powerful connection between music and overcoming speech difficulties. He recounted a story of a young boy who struggled to speak, causing concern for his parents. One night, they heard a piano playing beautifully from the floor below their apartment. When they investigated, they found their four-year-old son, who had speech challenges, playing the piano flawlessly. Bachchan encouraged Rishabh to use his talent to inspire others both in India and abroad.
To conclude the segment, Rishabh and his father performed the classic song ‘Rote Hue Aate Hain Sab’ from the 1978 film Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, creating a memorable and touching moment on the program.
