Huge Ganja Bust Near Hyderabad: Truck Seized and Two Arrested

The Telangana EAGLE Force, along with the Rachakonda Narcotics Police, successfully seized 237 kg of ganja worth around Rs 1.185 crore on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway (NH-65) and apprehended two suspected smugglers.

Following credible intelligence, law enforcement launched an operation that resulted in the discovery of the ganja hidden within the cabin of a truck registered in Maharashtra.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Rajesh Kumar, a 33-year-old truck owner and driver from Navi Mumbai, originally hailing from Bihar, and Anil Ranganath Bichare, a 35-year-old laborer from Pune.

Investigators revealed that Rajesh had connections with alleged drug traffickers Suresh Kedari and Dharam Shindey, who purportedly financed the acquisition of his second-hand truck in exchange for transporting ganja from Odisha to Maharashtra.

The pair traveled to Vijayawada and then proceeded to Gunpur village in Rayagada district, Odisha, where they allegedly received ten gunny bags filled with ganja from supplier Pabitra Kumar Sabar, also known as Pitambar Sabar.

While they were transporting the cargo to Pune via Hyderabad, the EAGLE Force intercepted them. Although the suspects initially claimed they had not traveled to Odisha, their call records contradicted their statements, ultimately leading to the recovery of the drugs.

A case has been registered at the Rachakonda Narcotics Police Station, and efforts are underway to locate the three accomplices who remain at large, as authorities work to dismantle the broader trafficking network.

In the last two months, the EAGLE Force has confiscated nearly 1,500 kg of ganja as part of enhanced monitoring of interstate drug routes.
