Cyclone Arnab has tragically claimed the lives of three individuals and caused damage to 31 residences in Andhra Pradesh, according to a senior official from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
As the storm continues to unleash heavy rain and powerful winds, around 57,000 individuals have been relocated to relief camps across the state.
NDRF Inspector General Narendra Singh Bundela reported that 39 teams have been deployed throughout Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and nearby regions to manage the ongoing situation.
The cyclone made landfall close to Yanam in Puducherry and has since weakened from a very severe cyclonic storm to a severe one. It is anticipated to further diminish into a cyclonic storm and subsequently a deep depression by the evening of Wednesday.
Bundela noted that the northern regions of Andhra Pradesh and the southern parts of Odisha have experienced the most significant impact from Cyclone Arnab, with notable winds and rainfall occurring in several districts of both states.
