Amit Shah Plans One-Day Visit to Odisha Ahead of VP's Trip

Bhubaneswar: The political scene in Odisha is intensifying as several prominent national leaders are scheduled to visit in July.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is anticipated to undertake a one-day official tour of Odisha on July 4. His agenda is expected to include a combination of high-level government activities and significant party organizational events. While political circles are abuzz with preparations, an official confirmation and finalized schedule from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) are still pending.

Shah’s visit is particularly important as three-tier panchayat elections are set for February next year. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aims to replicate its 2024 success, leveraging its achievements over the past two years in office.

Adding to the state’s notable schedule, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan is also expected to make a one-day official visit shortly after, on July 9. The Vice President will engage in a series of socio-cultural and official events in the state capital.

These forthcoming visits follow a historic joint appearance by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj, on June 20. This landmark occasion celebrated the second anniversary of Chief Minister Mohan Majhi’s BJP government. Under the theme “Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara”, the leaders unveiled an extensive infrastructure package exceeding Rs 47,600 crore.
