Puri Jagannath Temple to Implement Queue System for Devotees Ahead of New Year

Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, is expected to roll out a queue-based darshan system for devotees ahead of the New Year.

On Friday, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced that the proposed ‘dhadi darshan’ system is scheduled to be implemented after the holy month of Kartik and prior to the New Year celebrations.

He indicated that preparations for this new system are nearing completion, allowing devotees to access darshan through eight ramps at once.

This eagerly anticipated arrangement aims to accommodate approximately 10,000 devotees each hour. The queue system will be established along the area between the Garuda Stambha and the Bahara Katha.

The design will feature a mechanism akin to a collapsible bridge, with ramps being opened for darshan and then closed once the darshan period ends.

This initiative has been developed with the technical support of IIT Bhubaneswar.

Prior to its official launch, the Chhatisha Nijog and the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee plan to conduct an inspection of the setup. The new system will be put into operation following their review and approval, as stated by Harichandan.
