Bhubaneswar: Gujarat and Odisha are actively seeking to forge connections between Odisha’s well-established metals and minerals industries and Gujarat’s thriving sectors in semiconductors, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing. This initiative is part of the preparations for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) scheduled for 2027.
The dialogue occurred during a roadshow at Vivanta in Bhubaneswar, which gathered industry leaders and government officials to discuss potential investment opportunities, technological collaborations, and business partnerships between the two states.
Prior to the roadshow, Gujarat’s Minister of State for Industries and MSMEs, Jayram Gamit, alongside Lochan Sehra, Secretary of Labour, Skill Development and Employment, conducted meetings with representatives from various companies and organizations.
The discussions were centered on enhancing industrial relationships and uncovering opportunities for Odisha’s businesses and institutions to collaborate with those in Gujarat.
In his address, Gamit emphasized the complementary strengths of both states, noting Odisha’s robust minerals, metals, and aluminum sectors alongside Gujarat’s industrial infrastructure, port facilities, semiconductor development, renewable energy capabilities, and global connections.
“Odisha has established itself as a leading centre for minerals, metals, and aluminum. Gujarat brings its own strengths in industrial infrastructure, ports, semiconductors, renewable energy, and global connectivity. I firmly believe that by bringing together our industries, entrepreneurs, and young talent, we can create new opportunities for innovation, employment, and shared prosperity. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our collective efforts will further strengthen the journey towards ‘Viksit Bharat @2047,'” he stated.
The Gujarat government reports that the state contributes 17 percent of India’s manufacturing output and 25 percent of its merchandise exports.
The roadshow underscored the potential for aligning Odisha’s industrial framework with Gujarat’s growing semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, and logistics sectors.
Additionally, the event included a presentation on VGGS 2027 by Sehra and a screening that highlighted Gujarat’s semiconductor ecosystem, textile industry, and renewable energy sector.
Industry representatives shared their insights and experiences regarding business prospects and industrial growth within the state.
The 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is set to take place in Gandhinagar from January 10 to 12, 2027, under the theme “Viksit Gujarat – Shaping Global Future.” The Gujarat government has encouraged businesses, startups, and industrial institutions from Odisha to engage in the summit and explore partnerships that aim to enhance industrial collaboration and inter-state supply chains.
