Today, the state of Odisha paid heartfelt tributes to two legendary figures in Indian history: revolutionary leader Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan on his birth anniversary and the 12-year-old freedom fighter, Shaheed Baji Rout, in honor of his martyrdom anniversary.
The Courage of Baji Rout
Baji Rout, at the tender age of 12, became an enduring emblem of bravery and sacrifice. His refusal to transport British soldiers across the Brahmani River ultimately cost him his life as he sought to protect freedom fighters. This act of defiance inspired a wave of bravery among young Indians, permanently securing his legacy in the rich history of Odisha.

The event also highlighted the relentless fight of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan against oppression and injustice. A fervent advocate for socialist principles, a veteran of the freedom struggle, and the visionary behind the ‘Total Revolution’ (Sampoorna Kranti), Narayan motivated countless individuals to champion democratic values, integrity, and truth in politics.
