On Friday evening, panic erupted in the Dharmasala block of Jajpur district, Odisha, when a 27-year-old businessman allegedly leapt off the Kayama bridge into the Kelua River.

The individual, identified as Ajay Tarai, hails from Chainihuda village and is the son of Babuli Tarai.

As per local reports, Ajay had been grappling with intense emotional turmoil stemming from family issues in recent days. On the day of the incident, he traveled to the Kayama bridge on his Pulsar motorcycle. Witnesses indicated that he stopped, abandoned his motorcycle and slippers on the bridge, and jumped into the rapidly moving waters below without warning.

Alarmed by the event, bystanders immediately alerted Ajay’s family. A rescue team from the Dharmasala Police Station, along with local Fire Services, promptly arrived to launch a search operation.

Specialized rescue teams, equipped with boats and necessary gear, are currently combing the river and its banks in search of Ajay. Despite extensive efforts under challenging conditions, he has not yet been found as of the latest updates.

Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the factors leading to this incident, while search-and-rescue operations continue along the Kelua River, with more information expected soon.
