As the Monsoon Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly approaches, starting tomorrow, Speaker Surama Padhy has called an all-party gathering today to encourage collaboration among both ruling and opposition members for a well-ordered session.

This meeting is anticipated to include Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling, the Leader of Opposition, the leader of the Congress Legislature Party, and whips from various parties.

The Monsoon Session is scheduled from September 22 to October 3, primarily allocated for official matters. Notably, September 26 has been designated for Private Members’ Business, which will cover Bills and Resolutions.

Political factions are devising their plans: the BJD legislature party is set to convene at 5 pm today, while the Congress Legislature Party will gather tomorrow morning. The opposition is expected to challenge the government on topics such as the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, reported errors in textbook printing, and concerns regarding law and order.

In light of the session, security around the Assembly has been heightened, with 36 platoons of police and over 150 officers assigned to ensure public order during the proceedings.
