Balangir: A forester was tragically discovered hanging in the official quarters of the range office located in Odisha’s Balangir district.

The individual has been identified as Byasadev Sahu, aged 59, who served as a forester at the Thikadarpada Range.

Reports indicate that Sahu’s colleagues found his body suspended from the railing of the staff quarters situated behind the Range Office on Sunday evening. Authorities were alerted, and police quickly arrived at the scene.

The police have commenced an investigation into the matter, but the details surrounding Sahu’s death remain unclear.

In a related development, Sahu’s family has claimed that he was compelled to take such a drastic action due to pressure from higher-ups. They are calling for a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances of his demise.

On the other hand, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ajit Bisi refuted the family’s accusations, asserting that there was no pressure exerted on Sahu and that no complaints had been lodged against him. He characterized Sahu as a diligent worker who performed his duties with sincerity.
