Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable achievement, four-year-old Elena Mishra from Odisha has set a record by becoming the youngest female player to receive an official FIDE rating in chess.

Elena, who is 4 years, 6 months, and 16 days old, has been assigned an official FIDE Blitz rating of 1432, as reported by the international chess federation in their September 2026 ratings.

This accomplishment comes after Elena competed in the Odisha State Blitz FIDE Rating Open Chess Championship 2026, held at Mother’s Public School, where her outstanding performance secured her a spot on the official FIDE rating list at such a young age.

Notably, Elena is currently the only female chess player born in 2022 or later to possess an official FIDE rating across any format.

The achievement was also recognized by Odisha Sports in a post on X, which stated, “She is currently the only female player born in 2022 or later to hold an official FIDE rating in any format.”

While most children her age are just starting to engage in various games and activities, Elena has already made a significant impact in the competitive chess arena. Her success highlights the increasing popularity of chess in Odisha and showcases the emergence of young talent from the region.
