The administration of Nuapada district has implemented a stringent ‘No Entry’ policy for heavy goods vehicles on National Highway-353 and the Biju Expressway.

This regulation, which is in effect daily from 7 AM to 1 PM and from 3 PM to 7 PM, aims to facilitate the safe movement of schoolchildren and commuters in the Khariar Road, Nuapada, and Khariar NAC regions. The persistent heavy traffic during these hours has raised public safety concerns, necessitating this action.

District Collector and Magistrate Madhusudan Dash issued the directive based on Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 and Rule 173 of the Odisha Motor Vehicles Rules from 1993. During the specified hours, heavy vehicles are required to park in designated areas designated by the local authorities.

To enforce this regulation, several checkpoints have been established: near Jalaram Temple for Khariar Road NAC, Sahipala and Ghatipada for Nuapada NAC, and Padmapur and Gosala for Khariar NAC. However, vehicles transporting essential goods are exempt from this restriction.

The administration has called upon truck drivers and owners to adhere to this directive, highlighting that this initiative is aimed at safeguarding lives, alleviating congestion, and enforcing orderly traffic management.
