The Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare in Odisha, Krushna Chandra Patra, has confirmed that obtaining an AgriStack ID is not a requirement for farmers registering for paddy procurement.
In Bhubaneswar, Patra announced the upcoming launch of a dedicated mobile application designed to streamline the registration process for paddy procurement, aimed particularly at assisting small farmers and sharecroppers.
This new app intends to facilitate a hassle-free registration experience for users.
Furthermore, Patra emphasized that while the AgriStack ID is not essential for the initial registration, farmers who do not possess a digital identification ID can still register seamlessly. These farmers will receive an AgriStack ID before the issuance of procurement tokens in November.
Currently, the registration for the Kharif paddy procurement season started on August 6 and will run until August 31. Farmers have the option to register either in person at their local Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) or online through the official Food Odisha Portal.
As of now, 5,093 farmers have completed their registration for paddy procurement, with 3,108 of them already holding an AgriStack ID. Additionally, the minister confirmed that sharecroppers are eligible to register for paddy procurement as well.
