In an effort to combat corruption, Odisha Vigilance officials apprehended a Revenue Inspector (RI) from the Kalosihira circle, which falls under the Kuarmunda Tahasil, on Tuesday.

On July 21, 2026, Smt. Anita Jena, the accused RI, was caught demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹4,000 from an applicant seeking a demarcation report for his ancestral land.

The applicant had submitted his request for the report several months earlier. Despite numerous follow-ups, Smt. Jena delayed the issuance without justification, ultimately asking for the bribe.

Frustrated by the ongoing harassment, the applicant filed a complaint with the vigilance authorities against Smt. Jena.

Acting on this information, the vigilance team apprehended her while she was in the process of collecting the bribe. The entire amount of ₹4,000 was recovered from her possession.

In the aftermath of the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at three locations associated with Smt. Jena as part of a broader investigation into her assets.

A case has been registered at the Rourkela Vigilance Police Station, numbered 05 dated July 20, 2026, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation into Smt. Jena’s activities is ongoing, and further details will be provided.
