In a unique twist, a man’s experiment in the extreme summer heat of Odisha has captured the attention of social media users. The post was uploaded on Instagram by user @life.is.foodie_ with the caption “Sambalpur at 44 degrees.” In the video, the man is seen on his terrace during the peak afternoon heat, placing a pan under direct sunlight, pouring oil into it, and gesturing towards the sun to emphasize the heat.
He then cracks two eggs into a glass, whisks them, and pours the mixture into the pan. Within moments, the edges of the omelette begin to puff up, indicating it is cooking in the heat. The video features the text “Odisha ki garmi.” The man’s video elicited mixed reactions online. Some viewers expressed amazement and humor, while others were skeptical about the setup. One user joked, “Hp Gas ki tension khatam,” while another remarked, “Omelette is okay, I was thinking you might get fried.” Others questioned the heat’s intensity, asking, “Tell me honestly is it not a preheated tawa?” and suggesting, “I think the pan was already heated before making the omelette.” Conversely, some praised the experiment as practical and innovative, with comments like “Good use of solar energy.” The summer of 2026 has seen temperatures soar above 45 degrees Celsius in many regions across the country. A study published on May 26 indicates that Uttar Pradesh could see as many as 8,056 excess deaths during a five-day intense heatwave, making it the most vulnerable state in India for heat-related fatalities.
