Odisha experienced two tragic road accidents on Sunday, resulting in two fatalities and leaving another individual critically injured in separate incidents from Balasore and Sambalpur districts.
In the first incident, one person lost their life and another sustained critical injuries after being struck by a car near Dhobagadia on the Kupari-Khaira road in Soro. Reports indicate that the duo was hit by a speeding vehicle while traveling along the route. Khaira Police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the accident. Both the deceased and the injured are from the Kupari area, with the critically injured victim later transferred to Bhadrak Medical for advanced treatment.
In a separate incident in Rairakhol, Sambalpur district, a mason named Bishnu Behera was killed in a road accident on National Highway-55 near Charmal. Bishnu, a resident of the same village, was reportedly returning home after finishing construction work when a car traveling from Sambalpur to Cuttack allegedly struck him from behind. The collision was fatal, resulting in his death at the scene.
Following this incident, Charmal Police detained the car and its driver, launching a thorough investigation into the matter. Both accidents have reignited concerns regarding road safety and reckless driving on Odisha’s highways and major roads.
