Bhubaneswar: Three separate accidents in different districts of Odisha—Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, and Keonjhar—left at least two people dead and four others injured on Wednesday.
In one incident, Mayurbhanj district experienced a tragic road accident when a car collided with a trailer truck at Gaddeulia under the Baisinga Police Station area. Former Zilla Parishad vice-chairperson Kamala Tiria and her son suffered critical injuries, while her daughter-in-law died on the spot.
Sources indicated that Tiria’s family was returning to Baripada from Bhubaneswar when the accident occurred. The injured were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
In another case in Keonjhar district, a young man lost his life after being struck by an unidentified vehicle near Parshala on NH-20 while heading home after attending a wedding feast.
The victim was identified as Gyanaranjan Mohanty from Krushnapur village under the Champua Police Station area. He was taken to Champua Medical following the incident, where he was pronounced dead during treatment. Police have begun a probe into the matter.
Additionally, in Jajpur district, a woman died and two others were critically injured when a car rear-ended an auto-rickshaw near Jarka Chhak on NH-16. The accident occurred while they were traveling in the auto towards Brahmapur from Anandpur.
The injured, identified as the woman’s husband and mother-in-law, were admitted to Dharmasala Medical for treatment. Dharmasala Police launched an investigation after arriving at the scene.
