Upcoming Bank Holidays in India: Schedule from October 19 to 25

India is now in the midst of its festive season, with various celebrations taking place. However, alongside the festivities, bank customers should also pay attention to the scheduled bank holidays in October.

Before heading to a bank branch, it’s advisable to check whether it will be open or closed for the holidays. The bank holiday schedule in October varies across different states and cities, influenced by local festivals and observances. Customers intending to make substantial cash deposits, process cheques, or handle other branch-related tasks should verify the holiday dates for their specific location to plan their visits accordingly.

Tuesday, October 20: The following states will see bank closures: Tripura, Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Assam, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Nagaland, West Bengal, Delhi, Goa, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh for Dasara/Dusshera (Vijaya Dashmi), Maha Navami, Ayudha Pooja, and Durga Puja. Only Sikkim and Manipur will have banks operational on this day.

Wednesday, October 21: Banks will be closed in Tripura, Karnataka, Sikkim, Assam, Kerala, West Bengal, and Meghalaya for Vijaya Dasami, Durga Puja (Dasain), and Maha Dashami.

Thursday and Friday, October 22 and 23: In Sikkim, banks will remain closed for Durga Puja (Dasain).

Additionally, all banks across the nation will be closed on October 24, which is the fourth Saturday of the month, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar. All scheduled and non-scheduled banks observe holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays each month.

Despite the branch closures, banking services will not be entirely halted. ATMs, UPI, internet banking, and mobile banking applications will continue to operate for regular transactions such as fund transfers, bill payments, and account management. However, services requiring in-person attendance at a branch will have to wait until branches reopen.

A quick review of the holiday schedule can help customers avoid unnecessary trips and ensure their banking needs are met during this busy festive period.
