Jagatsinghpur: The principal of a degree college in the Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha has been taken into custody for reportedly engaging in misconduct and inappropriate behavior towards female staff.
The individual in question, Dayanidhi Routray, serves as the principal of Swami Arupananda Degree College located in Kurtang.
Sources indicate that allegations were made against Routray concerning harassment towards a female lecturer and a female clerk employed at the college. These staff members approached the Jagatsinghpur Sub-Collector to demand decisive action against him. Following their formal complaint on July 11, police from Raghunathpur intervened and arrested Routray, who was later presented in a local court.
According to police reports, this incident is not isolated, as Routray has a history of trouble with the law, with at least six cases filed against him at various police stations linked to prior offenses.
In light of the serious charges and his arrest, the district administration of Jagatsinghpur has suspended Routray from his role at the college while further investigations are conducted.
