Nita Ambani recently celebrated the handloom heritage of Odisha by wearing an Ikat saree crafted by Swadesh’s weaver, Harishankar Meher. The saree, in earthy hues, has been made using the traditional bandha technique and natural dyes, blending devotion with design. Its body features a mosaic inspired by the Ram Shila, with the word “Ram” woven in multiple languages to reflect the universality of faith, while the pallu incorporates sacred mantras in Odia script, beautifully integrated into classic Ikat patterns. It took over two years to create this exquisite saree for Nita Ambani. The occasion of Ram Navami was the perfect time to revisit this Bandha Ikat saree.
