New Delhi: On the concluding Monday of the sacred month of Sawan, a multitude of devotees gathered at major Shiva temples throughout India, expressing their reverence through Jal Abhishek and unique prayers.
From Varanasi and Ujjain to Puri, temples were filled with worshippers, and extensive measures were taken to handle the large crowds.
In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, a significant number of devotees assembled at Kashi Vishwanath Dham early on Monday morning.
Pilgrims from various regions came to pay their respects to Baba Vishwanath, forming long lines as they awaited their turn to enter and conduct rituals. The temple grounds were adorned with rudraksha beads and flowers, enhancing the festive and spiritual ambiance.
District Magistrate of Varanasi, Satyendra Kumar, noted that many devotees were participating in Jal Abhishek. “Even at 5 AM, over 60,000 devotees had already visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple,” he remarked, emphasizing the impressive attendance on this significant day.
In Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, worshippers convened at the Mahakaleshwar Temple to take part in special ceremonies.
One devotee shared, “The last Monday of Sawan is especially meaningful for me as I had the chance to observe the Bhasma Aarti of Mahakal early this morning.”
Meanwhile, in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, a large crowd gathered at the Kailash Temple, where they offered water to Lord Shiva and engaged in prayers.
In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, devotees congregated at a Shiva temple in Sardarnagar for special prayers during Sawan. A Rudrabhishek ceremony was also held, with participants partaking in the sacred observances.
Baba Garib Nath Dham in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, saw a significant assembly as devotees came to offer water to Lord Shiva on this final day of Sawan.
Additionally, in Buxar, Bihar, District Magistrate Sahila and Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya reviewed preparations along the Kanwariya route from Ramrekha Ghat to Baba Brahmeshwar Nath Temple, where they also offered their prayers.
A local devotee mentioned that residents from all over Buxar had come with their wishes, lining up for Jal Abhishek at Baba Brahmeshwar Nath.
In Puri, Odisha, thousands of Kanwariya devotees visited the Mahaprabhu Sri Jagannath Temple on this last Monday of Sawan. The Dwara Phita Niti, which signifies the opening of the temple doors, was conducted amidst a devotional atmosphere.
The last Monday of Sawan is of particular religious importance to followers of Lord Shiva. Temples across the nation were alive with chants, prayers, Jal Abhishek, and special rituals as devotees celebrated the auspicious end of the holy month with unwavering faith.
