Bhubaneswar: Dr. Achyuta Samanta, who established KIIT, KISS, and KIMS, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Maharaja Ganga Singh University (MGSU), one of the oldest public universities in Rajasthan.
The prestigious honor was presented to the prominent educator and social reformer from Odisha during a special event held at Lok Bhavan in Jaipur on Friday.
Rajasthan’s Governor and MGSU Chancellor Haribhau Bagde conferred the accolade upon Samanta, with Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa, MGSU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Manoj Dixit, and Registrar Prof. Yashpal Ahuja in attendance, along with various ministers and MLAs from the state.
In acknowledging Samanta’s remarkable efforts in promoting societal development and welfare through education, the university highlighted his significant contributions.
This honor represents the 75th honorary doctorate for Samanta, received both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Samanta expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Governor and Vice-Chancellor for their recognition and for inviting him from Odisha. He dedicated this accolade to his late mother, Nilimarani, as her 10th death anniversary approaches on August 2.
Additionally, Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar, the chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), was also awarded an honorary doctorate during the ceremony.
