Bhubaneswar: The ASMITA Rugby Bhubaneswar City Tournament 2026 took place over two days, concluding on September 20 at KISS, Bhubaneswar. This event served as a competitive arena for women and young girls to exhibit their rugby talents and encourage increased engagement in the sport.

A total of 18 teams competed across three categories: Senior Women, U-18 Junior, and U-15 Sub-Junior, with each category featuring six teams.

The KISS Queens triumphed in the Senior Women category, with Super Senior and Rugby Queens following in second and third place, respectively. In the U-18 Junior category, the Golden Eagles claimed the top spot, while Rising Star and Black Queen secured the next two positions. The Wild Tiger team won the U-15 Sub-Junior category, with Rising Warriors and Black Tiger finishing behind them.

The tournament’s opening ceremony was graced by notable attendees including Upendra Kumar Mohanty, Vice-President of the Odisha Rugby Football Association (ORFA); Rudrakesh Jena, Joint Director of Sports at KISS; Japanese Coach Sato Hirosaki; and international rugby stars Hupi Majhi, Sumitra Nayak, and Ganesh Dhangada Majhi.

Rajkishore Murmu, H.D. Majhi, Chandan Soren, Jasobanta Kumura, and Pulin Soren played key roles in conducting the tournament.

This event received support from KIIT University, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports of the Government of India, Rugby India, and the Odisha Rugby Football Association (ORFA).
