Deepak Kumar, who goes by ‘The OD Trekker’ on social media, accomplished an impressive 1,200-kilometer bike ride from Odisha to Indore, Madhya Pradesh, driven by his desire to meet Rajat Patidar, the captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
After days of determined cycling, Deepak finally met Patidar. A video that quickly gained popularity shows Patidar taking off his shoes before accepting a painting of Lord Jagannath from Deepak, a touching act that resonated with many online. This meeting was more than a mere photo opportunity; Deepak also gifted Patidar a traditional Sambalpuri Chadar, showcasing Odisha’s rich cultural heritage.
In response, the RCB captain presented Deepak with an official team jersey, engaged in conversation, posed for pictures, and extended his best wishes.
Cricket enthusiasts on social media commended both the remarkable dedication of Deepak and the graciousness of Patidar.
This remarkable journey is not Deepak’s first. He had previously cycled approximately 1,800 to 2,000 kilometers in 12 days to meet Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya. Moved by the commitment of the 18-year-old fan, Pandya located him, invited him to his farmhouse, and gifted him a match-worn Champions Trophy jersey, a cherished item few fans would ever expect to receive.
