On August 10, at the Rail Auditorium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented 1,326 appointment letters during the 16th Nijukti Mela, showcasing the state’s commitment to enhancing employment opportunities and industrial growth.
The new recruits will serve across nine different government departments. In his address, Majhi emphasized that the significance of government roles should not be measured solely by rank but by the positive impact on citizens’ lives. He urged the new employees to engage respectfully with the public, attentively address their concerns, and strive to resolve issues promptly.
Majhi connected the recruitment efforts to larger shifts within Odisha’s job market, noting a trend of reverse migration as young individuals return from other states, motivated by emerging job prospects linked to industrial expansion.
Since June 2024, the Odisha government has created a total of 45,408 jobs, according to Majhi. He also announced plans for substantial employment growth driven by industrial investment, projecting over Rs 21 lakh crore in investments that could generate 2 million job opportunities, positioning the state as a crucial contributor to the Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative.
Majhi highlighted the recent investment promotions in Delhi and Noida, which resulted in 38 memoranda of understanding totaling Rs 66,392 crore, expected to create more than 54,000 jobs.
The Chief Minister called on the new employees to uphold integrity in their roles and to reject corruption. He encouraged a commitment to their duties, placing citizens’ interests at the forefront of their work.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, along with Ministers Rabi Narayan Naik, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, and Gokulananda Mallik, also spoke at the event, motivating the young recruits to fulfill their responsibilities with dedication and contribute to the development of Odisha.
Officials from various government departments, including Housing and Urban Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Agriculture, Health, Fisheries and Animal Resources, Sports, Skill Development, and Excise, were present at the ceremony. Majhi reiterated that the ongoing industrial growth and focus on employment will continue to be pivotal in reshaping Odisha’s economic future.
