Bhubaneswar: AIIMS Bhubaneswar is planning to launch a specialized Neonatal Surgical Intensive Care Unit within its Paediatric Surgery department.
Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, the executive director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, stated that this new unit will focus on providing care for newborns who need intricate surgical procedures and close monitoring.
The facility aims to deliver specialized pre-operative stabilization, post-operative intensive care, and coordinated multi-disciplinary treatment for critically-ill newborns facing congenital and acquired surgical issues. This includes infants referred from other healthcare institutions, as noted by Dr. Biswas during a press conference on Friday.
Additionally, the unit will enhance postgraduate education, provide practical training for resident doctors, and promote clinical research in neonatal surgery and critical care.
Furthermore, Dr. Biswas announced that the sixth convocation ceremony of the Institute is scheduled for July 18.
Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Anupriya Patel, is expected to attend as the chief guest and will present degrees to the graduating students.
Odisha’s Health & Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling and Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha MP Aparajita Sarangi will also be in attendance.
A total of 684 students across various academic programs will be awarded degrees, along with 61 gold medals recognizing outstanding academic achievement.
