Renowned Odissi Dancer Madhumita Raut Dies at 59

Madhumita Raut, a distinguished Odissi dancer known for her remarkable contributions to classical dance, has passed away at the age of 59. She died from cardiac arrest at a hospital in Delhi, as confirmed by her brother, Manoj Raut.

Raut, the daughter of the renowned Odissi guru Mayadhar Raut, had a remarkable career, receiving prestigious honors including the Bharat Nirman Award in 1997, the Orissa State Ghungur Samman in 2010, and the Odisha Living Legend Award in 2011. Her performances around the world highlighted her commitment to promoting Indian classical dance.

Her funeral is set to take place at 3:30 pm on Saturday at Lodhi Crematorium in Delhi, where family, friends, and admirers will gather to pay their respects to this legendary dancer.
